Acceptable Use Policy
Effective date: September 22, 2026.
1. Purpose
The Acceptable Use Policy explains conduct that is prohibited when using MenuXYZ. The purpose is to protect restaurants, diners, service providers, employees, other users and the integrity of the website. It applies to public browsing, menu submissions, contact forms, support interactions, service projects and other MenuXYZ functions.
2. Lawful use
You may use MenuXYZ only for lawful purposes. You must comply with applicable federal, state, local and international laws, regulations and contractual obligations. If you operate a restaurant or business, you remain responsible for your own regulatory obligations, including licensing, advertising, food safety, privacy, employment and tax requirements.
3. Prohibited technical activity
You may not attempt unauthorized access to accounts, servers, databases or administrative systems; bypass authentication; scan systems without authorization; introduce malware; distribute ransomware; use automated attacks; overload the website; interfere with availability; exploit vulnerabilities for unauthorized purposes; or attempt to obtain credentials or security information.
Good-faith security research should be coordinated through an appropriate contact process and must not involve accessing, changing, deleting or exfiltrating other people's data. Researchers should avoid actions that create operational risk.
4. Fraud and deception
You may not impersonate another person or business, create fraudulent restaurant listings, submit false menu information, manipulate reviews, create fake endorsements, misrepresent affiliation, use deceptive links, or engage in scams through MenuXYZ. Commercial claims should be truthful and supported as required by law.
U.S. consumer-protection laws, including the FTC Act, can prohibit unfair or deceptive practices. Reviews and endorsements may be subject to additional FTC rules and guidance. Businesses using MenuXYZ should review their advertising and review practices carefully.
5. Content restrictions
Do not upload content that is unlawful, defamatory in violation of applicable law, threatening, harassing, hateful in a manner prohibited by law, sexually exploitative, fraudulent, malicious, or designed to facilitate criminal conduct. Do not upload another person's private information without a lawful reason and appropriate authority.
Menu submissions should relate to the restaurant or service being represented. Do not upload confidential customer records, payment-card information, passwords or unrelated personal data.
6. Intellectual property
You must have the rights necessary to upload photographs, logos, menu files, written content and other materials. Do not upload copyrighted or trademarked material simply because it is publicly available online. If you receive a takedown or rights complaint, cooperate with the review process.
7. Privacy and personal data
Do not use MenuXYZ to collect personal information for an unrelated purpose or to create unauthorized databases of customers. Do not upload sensitive personal information unless the service specifically requires it and appropriate safeguards are in place. Businesses using third-party forms or integrations remain responsible for understanding those providers' privacy practices.
8. Spam and communications
Do not use MenuXYZ contact or submission tools for bulk unsolicited messages, phishing, credential harvesting, deceptive advertising or unwanted marketing. Commercial email sent through or in connection with MenuXYZ should comply with applicable requirements, including CAN-SPAM in the United States and relevant international electronic-marketing rules.
9. Scraping and automation
Automated access must not circumvent technical restrictions, overload the service, collect personal information without a lawful basis, or reproduce protected content unlawfully. Reasonable indexing by search engines is different from abusive scraping. MenuXYZ may impose technical limits to protect the service.
10. Restaurant listings
Users must not create duplicate, fake or misleading restaurant listings. If you represent a restaurant, keep its information accurate. If you discover an error, use the contact process to report it rather than attempting to manipulate the website.
11. Third-party services
Do not use MenuXYZ to distribute links that facilitate unlawful activity or malicious software. Third-party services are independent and may impose their own rules. MenuXYZ does not have legal control over third-party services, but it may restrict links or integrations that create a security or legal risk.
12. Accessibility and respectful use
Do not intentionally create content that prevents people with disabilities from accessing essential information where accessible alternatives can reasonably be provided. Use descriptive text, readable formatting and accurate labels when submitting content. MenuXYZ encourages accessible practices consistent with applicable law and recognized technical guidance.
13. Enforcement
MenuXYZ may remove content, restrict features, suspend access or take other reasonable measures when it believes a user has violated this policy or created a security, legal or operational risk. Action may be immediate when necessary to protect the service or users.
Enforcement does not mean MenuXYZ has made a legal finding. A restriction may be a precaution while facts are reviewed.
14. Law enforcement and legal process
MenuXYZ may respond to valid legal process, court orders, subpoenas or government requests as required by law. Where permitted, we may notify affected users when appropriate. Nothing in this policy prevents lawful reporting of suspected crimes or safety issues.
15. Security reports
If you believe you have discovered a security vulnerability, report it through the Contact MenuXYZ page with enough technical information for us to understand the issue. Do not include real passwords, payment information or unnecessary personal data. Do not exploit the vulnerability after reporting it.
16. International use
Users outside the United States must comply with their local laws as well as laws that may apply to their conduct. MenuXYZ does not represent that every feature is lawful or available in every jurisdiction. Certain content may be subject to export controls, sanctions or other restrictions that vary by country.
17. No circumvention
Do not attempt to defeat rate limits, paywalls, access restrictions, robots controls, authentication systems or other technical safeguards. Do not reverse engineer private systems or use hidden endpoints for unauthorized purposes.
18. User responsibility
You are responsible for your account credentials, submissions and conduct. If you believe your credentials have been compromised, contact MenuXYZ and take appropriate steps with the relevant service provider.
19. Changes
MenuXYZ may update this policy as technology and law change. The effective date should be updated when material changes are made.
20. Contact
Questions about acceptable use can be submitted through the Contact MenuXYZ page or the site's Contact Support link.
21. Malware and harmful files
Menu files and images should be limited to formats reasonably related to the requested service. Users must not upload executable malware, ransomware, spyware, credential stealers, malicious scripts, infected documents or files designed to compromise another person's device. MenuXYZ may scan or restrict uploads for security purposes.
22. Credential and account abuse
Users may not request, guess, steal, sell or share credentials for unauthorized access. Do not use another person's account without permission. Do not attempt to reset another user's password or use social engineering to obtain access to an administrative function.
23. Harassment and abuse
Contact forms and support channels are intended for legitimate communication. Threats, repeated abusive messages, targeted harassment, impersonation and attempts to intimidate staff or other users are prohibited. Good-faith complaints and disagreement are permitted when communicated respectfully.
24. Misleading restaurant claims
Do not create a restaurant listing that falsely claims ownership, accreditation, awards, certifications or affiliation. Do not publish false statements about another restaurant in order to damage its reputation or divert customers. If a correction is needed, provide factual information through the contact process.
25. Financial and payment information
Do not submit full payment-card numbers, bank-account credentials, passwords or other highly sensitive financial information through a general contact form. If a paid service requires payment information, use the payment mechanism specifically provided for that transaction.
26. Security testing
Unauthorized penetration testing, vulnerability exploitation, denial-of-service activity and data extraction are prohibited. If you discover a vulnerability, report it responsibly and provide enough information for investigation without continuing to exploit the issue.
27. Competitive intelligence and scraping
Users must not use automated systems to copy large amounts of MenuXYZ content in a manner that violates access restrictions, intellectual-property rights, privacy obligations or applicable law. Reasonable personal research is different from systematic extraction designed to replicate the service or overwhelm it.
28. Export, sanctions and restricted activity
Users must not use MenuXYZ in violation of applicable export-control, sanctions or other trade restrictions. MenuXYZ may restrict access or transactions where required by law. International users are responsible for understanding restrictions that apply to their own activities.
29. Reporting violations
Reports should include the relevant URL, a concise description of the issue and supporting information. Do not include unnecessary personal information. MenuXYZ may prioritize security, safety, legal and operational risks when reviewing reports.
30. No retaliation for good-faith reporting
MenuXYZ encourages good-faith reports of security or abuse issues. This does not authorize users to exceed legal or technical boundaries while investigating a problem. Responsible reporting should minimize impact on systems and other users.
31. Content that facilitates harm
Users may not use MenuXYZ to publish instructions, files or links intended to facilitate serious harm, fraud, theft, unauthorized access or other unlawful conduct. MenuXYZ may remove content when it reasonably believes the material creates a significant risk to users or the service.
32. Impersonation and brand misuse
A user must not create a page or message that falsely appears to come from MenuXYZ, a restaurant, a payment provider, a support provider or another person. This includes misleading logos, domains, email addresses and social-media profiles. Legitimate brand references should not imply an affiliation that does not exist.
33. Data harvesting
Do not use MenuXYZ as a tool to build lists of individuals for unsolicited marketing, surveillance or profiling. Publicly visible information is not automatically free of privacy obligations. If personal information is collected, the user remains responsible for having a lawful purpose and complying with applicable data-protection requirements.
34. False reviews and manipulation
Users must not post reviews for businesses they did not experience, pay people to create deceptive reviews without required disclosures, suppress genuine negative feedback through prohibited practices, or manipulate ratings. Businesses using MenuXYZ for marketing should review current FTC rules and guidance regarding reviews and endorsements.
35. Safety and emergency information
MenuXYZ is not an emergency service. Do not rely on the website to report an immediate threat, medical emergency, fire, crime or other urgent event. Contact the appropriate emergency service or local authority when necessary.
36. Cooperation with investigations
MenuXYZ may investigate suspected abuse, preserve relevant information and take reasonable steps to protect users and the service. Investigations may involve third-party providers when necessary. MenuXYZ will handle personal information in accordance with applicable privacy obligations and its Privacy Policy.
37. Restoration after an incident
If a security or abuse event affects the website, MenuXYZ may temporarily disable features, restrict uploads, require credential changes or take other protective measures. Restoring normal operation may take time because security work should be completed before affected features are reopened.
38. Cooperation with affected users
When abuse affects a restaurant, customer or other user, MenuXYZ may take reasonable steps to limit further harm, including removing malicious links, restricting accounts or correcting compromised information. Where appropriate and legally permitted, affected parties may be notified.
39. Proportional enforcement
MenuXYZ may consider the seriousness, frequency and impact of a violation when deciding what action is appropriate. Security threats, fraud, credential theft and conduct that puts people at immediate risk may require faster action than minor formatting or content disputes. Enforcement decisions may also be affected by legal requirements and the need to protect evidence.
40. Policy interpretation
This policy should be read together with the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Disclaimer. If a mandatory law conflicts with a policy provision, the mandatory law controls to the extent required. The policy is intended to establish reasonable rules for use, not to create rights that conflict with applicable law.
Last reviewed: September 22, 2026. Because laws and technologies change, MenuXYZ should review this document periodically with qualified counsel.
